Former Tribe owner, Dick Jacobs passes away

The former owner of the Cleveland Indians, Richard E. "Dick" Jacobs passed away after suffering from a longtime illness. He was 84 years old. Jacobs was the man responsible for turning the organization around during the 1990's as the Tribe won 6 American League Central Division Championships and 2 American League Pennants. The team also went to two World Series (1995 & 1997). Dick Jacobs was actively involved in Cleveland's Gateway Project which helped to build the Indians a new stadium and to bring the Cavaliers back downtown. Progressive field, formerly know as Jacobs Field or "The Jake" was also named after Jacobs. During his tenure Jacobs Field held a record of 455 consecutive sellout games. In 2001 Jacobs sold the team to Larry Dolan and family for $320 million.

Thanks for the memories Mr. Jacobs...you will be missed!
